Morgan Freeman's Glove: Why Did He Wear This At The Opening Ceremony Of The World Cup?

Morgan Freeman received much attention on social media after he appeared as the key player during the opening festivities of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He showed up next to Ghanim al-Muftah, who wore a single glove.

Millions of viewers tuned in at the chance to watch the FIFA World Cup final, which took place on Sunday.

The 85-year-old stole the show with a speech that used hope, unity, and emotions to rally global support for this year's world cup. Some other big names who performed included BTS singer Jung Kook, Nicki Minaj, and more.

The reason why Morgan Freeman wore a glove?

When spotted for the first time, one aspect of Morgan Freeman's attire caught the attention of many viewers. Unlike most people, Mr. Freeman wore a single golden glove on his left hand.

The thought was that it might be a "plant" or in some way fake, but it turns out that it was much worse: It resulted from a decades-long battle with another disease.

Freeman began wearing the compression glove after a major car accident in 2008 that left him with a paralyzed hand.

The actor was airlifted out of the crash and also had difficulty speaking.

Following the incident, Morgan Freeman had to undergo surgery on his shoulder and hand. He said: "I suffered nerve damage, and it hasn't gotten better. I can't move it."

As a result, he has had to wear a compression glove to keep blood flowing.

He also suffers from chronic pain due to fibromyalgia, a chronic condition that develops when you have an injury and doesn't heal well in your shoulder.
