WWE SmackDown results: live blog (December 16, 2022): Two title matches

The WWE SmackDown results for December 16, 2022 featured two title matches, as well as the return of WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. 

The show opened with The Usos and Sami Zayn arriving at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois.

The first title match of the evening was between Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai & IYO SKY) and Liv Morgan & Tegan Nox for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship. 

The match was fast-paced and action-packed, with both teams showing off their impressive in-ring skills. In the end, it was Damage CTRL who emerged victorious, retaining their titles.

The second title match of the night saw Gunther defend the Intercontinental Championship against Ricochet. The match was highly competitive, with both Superstars giving it their all. 

In the end, it was Ricochet who came out on top, defeating Gunther to become the new Intercontinental Champion.

In other action on the card, there was a triple threat tag team match between Hit Row, Viking Raiders, and Legado del Fantasma. 

This match was also filled with high-energy action, with all three teams showcasing their abilities. In the end, it was Legado del Fantasma who emerged victorious.

Finally, Roman Reigns made his return to television for the first time since Survivor Series. The Universal Champion was met with a mixed reaction from the crowd, as he made his way to the ring. 

Reigns cut a promo, discussing his plans for the future and his upcoming title defense at the Royal Rumble.

Overall, WWE SmackDown on December 16, 2022 was an entertaining night of wrestling action, with two title matches and the return of Roman Reigns.
